Missouri QB Chase Daniel was chosen on Friday as the Big XII’s male athlete of the year.

“I’d like to accept the award on behalf of my teammates and coaches,” the rising senior said. “I know you have to put one person’s name on the award, but I really see this as our team being rewarded for everything we did together."

Daniel was also last year’s Big XII offensive player of the year after a record-setting season in which he threw for over 4,300 yards and 33 touchdowns.

COMMENTARY: Daniel was arguably the most important cog in Missouri’s wheel in getting to the Big XII title game last season. Along with tight end Chase Coffman and receiver Jeremy Maclin, expect Daniel and the Tigers to head to the conference title game this season.
