The coronation committee needs to convene. After rolling through its nonconference competition, No. 6 Missouri reigns supreme in the Big XII North.

Commentary: At this juncture, the only team capable of stopping the Tigers might be themselves. Last Saturday, Missouri allowed Buffalo to stay close until halftime before blowing the Bulls away, 42-21. The Tigers lost three fumbles in Buffalo territory and gave up a touchdown via a kickoff return for the first time in Gary Pinkel’s tenure as head coach.

Against the Bulls, Chase Daniel proved he deserves the title of king among Big XII signal-callers. The Tigers’ all-time passing leader threw for a career-high 439 yards and set a conference record with 20 consecutive completions.

Iowa State’s Seneca Wallace (2001) and Oklahoma’s Sam Bradford held the previous Big XII record of 18 straight. Daniel fell three short of the NCAA mark of 23 shared by Tennessee’s Tee Martin (1998) and Cal’s Aaron Rodgers (2004).

Missouri’s quarterback finished the Buffalo game with a 36-for-43 performance and two touchdown passes. He became the fifth Big XII QB to top 10,000 career passing yards, and his 83.7 career completion percentage ranks best in Tiger history for quarterbacks with a minimum of 30 passes.

As a result of their success, ESPN has jumped on the Tiger bandwagon. Pinkel will appear on SportsNation for a chat session Tuesday, and the network announced the Missouri-Nebraska game had been scheduled for the 8 p.m. EDT slot on Oct. 4.

Fan Pulse: The Tigers relish the roll and expect nothing less than another shot at the Big XII title. This thread reveals some of their fans' enthusiasm: http://mbd.scout.com/mb.aspx?s=19&f=2885&t=3049879

Injury report: The Tigers get an open week to heal their wounds before tangling with the Huskers. Guard Kurtis Gregory remains on the probable list for Nebraska with a sprained left ankle, while safety William Moore’s status is questionable with a sprained right foot.
