Starr’s Mill High (Fayetteville, Ga.) punter Chris Ward committed to N.C. State on Saturday for the ’09 class.

The 6-foot-1, 170-pounder, who also plays soccer, reportedly averaged over 41 yards a kick last season. He chose Raleigh over Georgia, Maryland, Memphis and Michigan. Jerry Petercuskie is credited as the primary.

COMMENTARY: Ward becomes the first kicker to commit to the Wolfpack in two years. His verbal brings the tally to five total commitments for '09.
