Nebraska landed its third commitment for the 2009 recruiting class Monday in defensive tackle Thaddeus Randle of Galena Park, Texas.

"I think Thaddeus and his family see it as a chance to be part of a program on the rise, because it will be on the rise with the changing of the guard,” Randle's high school coach David Aymond said.

The North Shore High School prospect stands 6-foot-1, weighs 255 pounds, and reportedly runs the 40-yard dash in 4.9 seconds. Randle is said to have excellent technique, is relentless and has great footwork.

Randle's primary recruiter is linebackers coach Mike Ekeler, and the Huskers beat out Oklahoma State, Texas A&M, TCU, Baylor and Houston.

COMMENTARY: Not only is Randle a promising prospect, but the interesting thing about this commitment is he is the team's first Texan to give his verbal to the school for the 2009 recruiting season. This is a very important get, as head coach Bo Pelini and company have publicly stated they will target the state of Texas in landing top high school prospects.
