Trinity High School (Euless, Texas) star running back Dontrayevous Robinson gave his solid verbal commitment to Nebraska on Friday for the 2009 recruiting class. The 6-foot-1, 215-pounder says he always liked Nebraska in spite of where he lives.

“I just liked the school since I was little,” Robinson said.

Clocked at 4.5 seconds in the 40, Robinson is the first running back commitment for coach Bo Pelini’s 2009 class.

Last season Robinson ran for 885 yards and 17 touchdowns on 137 carries (6.5-yard average). On the receiving end, the standout caught 16 passes for 226 yards and one score.

Nebraska beat out New Mexico, Utah, Texas Christian and Tulsa for the get. Rivals credits Carl Pelini and Tim Beck as the primary recruiters.

COMMENTARY: The Husker recruiting caravan rolls through the Lone Star State once again. Pelini is making good on his promise about invading Texas and snatching players: Robinson is the second Texan to commit to Nebraska inside a two-week period for the 2009 class. Defensive tackle Thaddeus Randle of Galena Park, Texas, announced his commitment May 5.
