The Jacksonville Jaguars won the battle for Florida, edging the Tampa Bay Buccaneers 20-17. The game was fairly boring, but very efficient. There were few big plays and only one turnover between the two teams.

Jacksonville Jaguars rookie wideout Matt Jones was impressive, snagging two receptions for 28 yards. Byron Leftwich played an efficient game completing 14 of 21 passes for 125 yards. Fred Taylor sat out once again and his replacement LeBrandon Toefield was unimpressive, rushing for 18 yards on seven carries and adding a reception for eight yards.

All three Tampa Bay Buccaneers quarterbacks faired well. Brian Griese was 5 of 8 for 44 yards. Chris Simms was 6 of 10 for 51 yards. Luke McCown was 5 of 7 for 93 yards and connected with Paris Warren on a 45 yard touchdown. Kicker Matt Bryant missed a last second 53-yard field goal attempt that would have taken the game into overtime.
