The New York Giants edged the Carolina Panthers 27-21. Eli Manning was inefficient but had a knack for the big play on this night. He completed only 3 of 9 passes but accumulated 150 yards and threw two touchdown strikes. Wide receiver David Tyree hauled in a 90 yard touchdown grab from Manning to get things started early in the first quarter. On the other side of the ball, the New York Giants defense forced four interceptions, including one that was taken to the house by Corey Webster.

Carolina Panthers signal caller Jake Delhomme went 15 of 19 for 146 yards and one touchdown, but also threw two costly picks. DeShaun Foster added 39 rushing yards on 11 carries. Rookie quarterback Stefan LeFors was 5 of 9 for 40 yards with one touchdown and one interception. He added 23 rushing yards but lost a fumble as well. Wide receivers Keary Colbert and Steve Smith were very productive combining for 13 receptions and 138 yards. The Panthers defense forced three fumbles, and recovered two of them, but go beat for long passing plays all night long.
