The Miami Dolphins looked pitiful in their game against the Pittsburgh Steelers. The Steelers won the game 17-3. The Miami Dolphins coughed up seven fumbles (that is not a misprint). It seemed as if every other series ended on a fumble. Gus Frerotte did not look worthy of the starting nod, completing 7 of 18 passes for measly 87 yards. His main competitor A.J. Feeley was 16 of 20 for 95 yards against backups. Ricky Williams was bottled up for the most part. He rushed for only nine yards on five carries. Rookie Ronnie Brown suited up but did not play.

Ben Roethlisberger was elusive and efficient. He avoided a handful of sacks and ended up 6 of 11 for 55 yards. He did throw one interception but also added 14 rushing yards. Jerome Bettis didn't see much game action. He carried the ball twice for 11 yards. His backup, the speedy Willie Parker, was very impressive. He racked up 58 rushing yards on six carries and added a 20 yard reception. After a lot of hype leading up to the game, wide receiver Hines Ward played sparingly. He caught one ball for three yards. The play of the game came in the first quarter. The Pittsburgh Steelers blitz Gus Frerotte on a third and 2 play, forcing a fumble that was recovered by James Harrison. The third year linebacker rumbled 69 yards for a touchdown.
