Jake Plummer looked good tonight as he led the Denver Broncos to a 26-21 victory. Plummer completed 7 of 9 passes for 95-yards and a touchdown to give the Broncos an early 10 point lead. Ground support for the Broncos also looked good with Tatum Bell and Ron Dayne leading the way. Bell extended the Broncos lead in the third quarter by scoring from 2-yards out. Bell would finish with 11 carries for 62-yards and a touchdown. Dayne finished with 87-yards on 18 attempts. In the receiving department, Jerry Rice made one reception for 8-yards. Darius Watts, The man he moved ahead of on the depth chart, missed two golden opportunities in the end zone, dropping one and failing to get his second foot down inside the line on another. RB Mike Anderson caught the only touchdown, on a two yard quickie from Plummer.

The San Francisco 49ers were able to move the ball well in the third quarter under the control of Tim Rattay. Tim Rattay, San Francisco's back up to Alex Smith, went 7 of 11 for 91-yards and a touchdown. Thus far, Rattay has out shined first round pick Alex Smith in the preseason. Rattay started nine games for the 49ers last year and is moving the offense well. Alex Smith finished with 22-yards on 2 for 7 attempts. Needless to say, Smith is looking like exactly what he is...a rookie. On the rushing side of things, the Niners were led by Kevan Barlow and Maurice Hicks. Both running backs combing for 15 total carries and 57-yards. Kevan Barlow finished with 36-yards on eight attempts. Other contributions came from, former University of Miami star, Frank Gore and rookie Bobby Purify. On the receiving end, the Niners only touchdown was caught by Arnaz Battle.
