The Tennessee Titans will travel to Monster Park to take on the San Francisco 49ers in each team's third preseason game. This will be only the second time these franchises have played each other in the pre-season.

The Tennessee Titans will attempt to build off of their impressive win last week against the Atlanta Falcons. In the win, the Titans' offense totaled 503 yards and controlled the ball for more than 43 minutes. Quarterback Steve McNair finished the game 14-of-19 for 137 yards and a touchdown. Running Back Chris Brown rushed for 45 yards on 10 carries and caught three passes for 23 yards and a touchdown. The big area of improvement will need to come from the special teams. On a kick return last week, Falcon's rookie DeAndra Cobb returned the ball 101 yards for a touchdown. The kickers also struggled with Rob Bironas missing two attempts from 37 and 44 yards, and Ola Kimrin missing wide right on an extra point.

The San Francisco 49ers will be starting Tim Rattay at quarterback. This came after head coach Mike Nolan stated that Rattay would be the 49ers opening day quarterback instead of rookie Alex Smith. The bigger story will be the focus of the 49er players after offensive lineman Thomas Herrion collapsed in the locker room and later died following last week's loss to the Denver Broncos. Herrion, a beloved and jovial player in the locker room, will be sorely missed by those close to him, especially by his fellow offensive lineman. After a tragedy such as this one, it will be interesting to see whether the concentration of the players will be on this game or if the events of the past week will be too overwhelming.

Our prayers go out to the entire Herrion family. May he rest in peace.
