Both starting quarterbacks were ineffective at best as the New York Giants edged the New York Jets 15-14. Tim Hasselbeck was especially atrocious throwing for 85 yards on 9 of 17 passes. He added an interception and two fumbles, both of which resulted in touchdowns for the Jets. The performance left Giants fans hoping and praying for Eli Manning's speedy return. On the other side of the ball the Giants' defense was especially stingy. They did not allow an offensive score.

The New York Jets offense could not get much going all night long. Chad Pennington was 5 of 11 for 36 yards and added two interceptions. On defense, Bryan Thomas and Ryan Myers both recovered fumbles for touchdowns.
