New England Patriots' head coach Bill Belichick warned his players that their first trip to Lambeau Field was more than a mere exhibition, and they responded. The Patriots beat the Green Bay Packers 27-3 on a rainy Friday night. Quarterback Tom Brady guided the Patriots on five scoring drives finishing the game 12 of 21 for 127 yards and one touchdown. Starting running back Corey Dillon gained 70 yards on 14 carries and added two touchdowns. Kicker Adam Vinatieri finished the scoring converting 2 field goals at 37 and 44 yards.

Green Bay Packers' quarterback Brett Favre had a forgettable night finishing the game 9-for-21 for 69 yards with no touchdowns and two interceptions. Rookie Aaron Rodgers went 5-for-9 for 52 yards with an interception while playing with the first-string for the first time this pre-season. The Packers' lone score came on a 26 yard field goal by Ryan Longwell after a punt bounced off of the Patriots' Tyrone Pool and into the arms of Green Bay gunner Chris Johnson inside the Patriots' 10 yard line.

Green Bay lost receivers Antonio Chatman and Javon Walker. Chatman injured his neck and was taken off the field on a stretcher. Walker dislocated a finger on his right hand later in the same series. Both players took X-rays, but the severity of the injuries has yet to be disclosed.
