The Texans came to terms with free agent DE N.D. Kalu, Wednesday, keeping him for a third straight year. The 2008 season will be his 12th in the NFL, and he had three sacks as a situational pass rusher in Houston last year. He started once, appearing in 15 games.

Commentary: The mainstays of Houston's emerging defensive line, DE Mario Williams and DT Amobe Okoye, likely don't fear losing their jobs because of this signing, but a Kalu knows how to rush the passer, and understands the Texans' defense. A one-year contract is far from a gamble for a player like that.
