Rams sign CB Macklin

St. Louis came to terms with veteran free agent CB David Macklin on a one-year deal Thursday. Terms were not released.

Macklin played six games in Washington last season, but the Rams faced him twice a season when he started 39 games for Arizona from 2004-2006. He has 14 interceptions in eight seasons with the Colts, Cardinals and Redskins.

Commentary: Veteran depth is always a good thing in the secondary, especially when a team's starting right cornerback (Fahkir Brown) is one substance abuse policy violation away from a year-long suspension.
