The Miami Dolphins started off on the right foot tonight, scoring on their first drive from scrimmage. Ricky Williams rushed for 10 attempts and gained 59-yards in the first half. Williams also scampered into the end zone from 4-yards out for a touchdown. Ronnie Brown made his debut as a Dolphin and displayed some of his toughness with a couple of hard runs up the middle. Brown also made his first rookie mistake by fumbling the ball on a short gain attempt. Nick Saban gave us a preview of what week five is going to look like, by lining up Ricky Williams & Ronnie Brown simultaneously. Ricky Williams will be out for the first four games of the season for violating the leagues' substance abuse policy. Another positive aspect, for the Dolphins, was their defense. Jason Taylor recorded two sacks, which included a hit on former Miami Dolphins' QB Brian Griese for a forced fumble.

On a negative note for the Dolphins, Gus Frerotte did not look very good. Frerotte finished with 103-yards on 9 of 25 attempts and one interception. A.J. Feeley came in the game late in the third quarter in relief of Frerotte. Feeley finished the game with 90-yards on 8 of 14 attempts and a touchdown. Feeley, along with a supporting cast of second and third string players, helped the Dolphins recapture the lead and eventually win the game.

The Tampa Bay Buccaneers had problems moving the ball all night, however, their defense looked sharp early on. Ronde Barber led the defense by intercepting a pass on the Miami 32-yard line in the second quarter. On offense, they couldn't get much going in the first half with the exception of a 46-yard field goal by Todd France. Earnest Graham, ran for a 19-yard touchdown in the third quarter to put the Buccaneers up 14-7. The Bucs' drew a blank in the fourth quarter and didn't score a single point. Their lack of points in the fourth quarter would prove to be crucial as the Dolphins pulled ahead 17-14 by scoring 10 points.
