The Eagles signed free agent TE Kris Wilson to a three-year deal Wednesday. The Chiefs drafted him in the second round in 2004, and in four seasons in Kansas City, he had 42 catches for 395 yards and four touchdowns.

Wilson started 12 games as a fullback for the Chiefs last season.

Commentary: The Eagles put the franchise tag on veteran TE L.J. Smith, and Wilson's signing sends a loud message to Smith: No extension is guaranteed.

Fantasy Football Impact: Wilson does bring a vertical threat to a team that doesn't have many, and could be shopping around for another one early in April's draft. Wilson could help occupy a linebacker who could be otherwise spying on All World RB Brian Westbrook.
