The game between the Indianapolis Colts and the Denver Broncos was destined to be a shoot-out from the opening quarter. On the second drive for the Broncos, Mike Anderson broke for a 93-yard touchdown run. Anderson would finish the game with two touchdowns and two receptions, recording 159-yards on 13 rushing attempts and 22-yards receiving. Mike Anderson is coming off a lost 2004 season due to a groin injury suffered in a preseason game against Houston. Jake Plummer had a fairly productive night throwing 10 of 16 passes for 150-yards and a touchdown. Receiver Ashley Lelie also had a big game gaining 104-yards on five receptions and a touchdown.

Although impressive, Denver's scoring success could be the result of an accumulation of injuries to the Colt's defense which is missing four starters and have 11 more players listed out with injuries.

Through a 0-3 preseason start that hasn't resembled last season's scoring prowess, the Colts came out guns blazing. Manning passed for 206 yards and two touchdowns through almost three quarters. Manning hit Reggie Wayne in the first quarter for a 44-yard play and later connected with Wayne again for a 27-yard score. Marvin Harrison also got involved, scoring on an 18-yard touchdown pass from Manning to tie the game at 17 before the half. Edgerrin James contributed by rushing for 33-yards on 8 attempts, however, it would not be enough to for a victory.

Mike Anderson reopened the scoring for the Broncos in the third quarter by capping a 30-yard drive with a touchdown. Jason Elam came through with a pair of field goals. Finally, Bradlee Van Pelt (Jake Plummer's relief) threw a 28-yard strike to Jeb Putzier for the final score.
