Vikings sign Frerotte to back up, push Jackson

The Minnesota Vikings signed QB Gus Frerotte on Tuesday to serve as a back-up to young starter Tarvaris Jackson.

Frerotte signed a two-year deal worth $3.75 million, according to the Minneapolis Star-Tribune. Frerotte played in Minnesota in 2003-04, backing up Daunte Culpepper. He threw seven touchdowns and 12 interceptions in St. Louis last season as a back up to Marc Bulger.
