Receiver-needy Bengals grab Gabriel

The Cincinnati Bengals have taken a one-year flier on receiver Doug Gabriel, who was cut by Oakland last August and did not play last season.

Commentary: With Chris Henry gone and Chad Johnson's status up in the air, the Bengals need any help they can get at receiver. Gabriel had shown some promise in 2004 and 2005, catching 70 passes for 1,105 yards and five touchdowns. The Raiders traded him to New England in 2006 and then picked him up off waivers when the Patriots waived him that December. But the Raiders didn't keep him last year, and he didn't hook on with anyone.
