The San Diego Chargers have given safety Clinton Hart a new five-year contract reportedly worth $3 million per year through 2012.

Commentary: Hart finished third on the team with 109 tackles last season, his first as a full-time starter. This continues the Chargers' theme of keeping their ascending young players.
