Bryant Gumbel has stepped down from his role as NFL Network play by play announcer after two seasons.

Commentary: The bottom line is that Gumbel had come under some criticism for his work in this capacity and made some mistakes along the way. Still, he’s a talented man; this just isn’t for him.

"I thoroughly enjoyed the opportunity to call NFL Network games the past two years, which was a new experience for me," Gumbel said in a statement. "But we've agreed that we'd all be better served going in different directions."

Enough said.
