Jacksonville has released its second veteran safety this offseason: This time, Lamont Thompson got the gate.

The sixth-year veteran was signed by the Jaguars in November after being released by Miami. He had 10 tackles in 2007 for Jacksonville. The Jaguars also released S Sammie Knight earlier this offseason, leaving them with Reggie Nelson, Jamaal Fudge and Gerald Sensabaugh in the deep secondary.

Commentary: It probably won't be surprising to see the Jaguars look at the safety position early in the draft. Both Sensabaugh and Fudge were retained by the team this offseason, and Sensabaugh had replaced then-starter Donovin Darius in the lineup before being placed on injured reserve.
