Ravens QB Steve McNair will announce his retirement at 1 p.m. ET Thursday, the Baltimore Sun is reporting.

The NFL's co-MVP in 2003, McNair played the last two seasons in Baltimore after leaving Tennessee. He led the Ravens to a 13-3 record in 2006, but injuries and turnovers forced him out of the lineup for most of the 2007 season.

Commentary: Truly one of the best signal-callers of his era, McNair threw for over 31,000 yards and rushed for 3,500-plus yards in 13 NFL seasons. The Ravens are left with veteran Kyle Boller, whom McNair was brought in to replace after the 2005 season, and Troy Smith on their roster. Speculation was already flying that the Ravens would use the eighth overall pick in this month's NFL draft on Boston College QB Matt Ryan if he's available. That speculation will only intensify now.
