The Steelers chose falling Illinois RB Rashard Mendenhall with the 23rd overall pick in Saturday's draft.

Mendenhall was rated by some as the second-best RB on the board behind Oakland's Darren McFadden. He joins veteran Willie Parker in the Steelers' backfield.

Commentary: Mendenhall fell due more to the depth of the offensive line than any percieved negatives he may have. The Steelers have more needs, but they must feel his talent is too much to ignore.

Fantasy Impact: Parker led the league in carries last season before breaking his leg in Week 16, but the selection of Mendenhall doesn't mean Parker will cut his carries in half. He does give the Steelers another game-breaking RB, though.
