The NFL league office announced on Thursday that a total of ten players have been fined, nine of those stemming from Monday night's brawl shortly before kickoff of the game between the Philadelphia Eagles and Atlanta Falcons.

The other fine was levied against Atlanta Falcons defensive tackle Chad Lavalais, the largest at $7,500, for his hit on Eagles quarterback Donovan McNabb. Lavalais led with his helmet, hitting McNabb in the chest and leaving him with a bruised chest on the play. McNabb is listed as questionable for this week's game against the San Francisco 49ers.

The pre-game scuffle, which resulted in the ejection of Philadelphia Eagles linebacker Jeremiah Trotter and Falcons cornerback Kevin Mathis before the game even started, also involved seven other players. Trotter, Mathis, and fellow Falcon cornerback DeAngelo Hall were fined $5,000 each.

During warm-ups before the game, Trotter walked over to the Falcons side of the field and appeared to get into a verbal confrontation with Mathis, among others. Trotter pushed Mathis, and it appeared that both he and teammate Hall both took swings at Trotter before officials and other players intervened.

Two other Falcons were fined $2,500 apiece for entering the fight area, Keion Carpenter and Allen Rossum. Kevin McCadam was also fined $1,000 for his role.

The three Eagles that were also fined $2,500 each for entering the fight area were Keith Adams, Jason Short, and Mike Labinjo. The trio all claimed they were simply trying to break up the fight, and indicated they will appeal the decision with the NFL.
