The Chicago Bears defense stifled the much heralded Detroit Lions offense, intercepting quarterback Joey Harrington five times and controlling the line of scrimmage with almost 200 yards on the ground en route to an easy 38-6 victory at Soldier Field.

Harrington looked more like a rookie than Bears signal caller Kyle Orton, who managed the game like a seasoned veteran going 14-of-21 for 150 yards through the air. The big strike was a 28-yard strike to Muhsin Muhammad that put the Bears up 24-6. The Bears' defense took over from there.

Joey Harrington and the Detroit Lions offense was on its heels all day against a big Chicago Bears pass rush, as he finished 19-of-37 for 196 yards with a touchdown. Bears linebacker Brian Urlacher sacked Harrington twice, as Chicago dominated the line of scrimmage. One of Harrington's errant passes was snatched by safety Mike Brown, who rumbled 41-yards for a score to pretty much put the game away before halftime, 31-6.

Thomas Jones and Cedric Benson proved to be an effective one-two punch for the Bears, as they combined for 188 yards rushing, with Jones scoring twice on runs of three and 16 yards.
