Maybe it wasn't such a good idea for the San Francisco 49ers to talk trash before the game. They received a humbling whipping at the hands of the Philadelphia Eagles. Donovan McNabb connected with Terrell Owens for two touchdowns in the first half on his way to five TD passes in the 42-3 victory.

McNabb ended up throwing for 342 yards and 5 TDs on 23 of 29 passes. He was pulled in the third quarter, otherwise he might have thrown for 10 touchdowns. Terrell Owens showed that pre-game trash talk will not be tolerated, hauling in five passes for 143 yards and two touchdowns. Brian Westbrook added 89 yards on 15 carries and also caught a touchdown pass from McNabb. The Philadelphia Eagles defense collected 3 sacks and 3 interceptions on the day.

The San Francisco 49ers looked lost all afternoon long and were held to under 150 total yards on the day. Tim Rattay was so ineffective that coach Mike Nolan decided to give Alex Smith a shot in the fourth quarter. Smith did not fair any better. Rattay ended up going 13 of 26 for 107 yards with three interceptions. Smith ended up 0 for 1 and took a big shot while scrambling down the sideline. RB Kevan Barlow was held to a measly 34 yards on 10 carries.
