The New Orleans Saints were bummed out about playing their first "home" game in the New York Giant's home stadium and it showed. The Giants jumped out in front in the early moments of the game and never looked back. They defeated a sloppy Saints unit 27-10.

The Giants got their first touchdown within the first two minutes of the game, thanks to special teams miscue. Fred McAfee fumbled the opening kickoff, after having the ball lateraled to him by regular kick return Michael Lewis. The Giants recovered the ball at the New Orleans 10-yard line and punched it in for touchdown from there to take a 7-0 lead.

The Giants would take a 14-0 lead off a 6-yard touchdown pass from Eli Manning to Tiki Barber. The Saints would then answer with a touchdown drive of their own that was capped off by 21-yard touchdown pass from Aaron Brooks to Joe Horn to cut the lead to 14-7. Tiki Barber scored another touchdown and then the Saints kicked a field goal to make the score at halftime 21-10.

The second half proved to be much less dynamic. The only points scored were two Giants field goals.

The New Orleans Saints were plagued with penalties and turnovers all night long. Aaron Brooks through three interceptions and the offense lost three fumbles. In addition, the Saints were flagged for 13 penalties. The lone bright spot offensively was the play of Joe Horn. He caught nine passes for 143 yards and a touchdown. Deuce McAllister had a modest 47 yards on 15 carries, but did become the New Orleans Saints all-time leading rusher.

The Giants were steady and effective in every phase of the game. Eli Manning was 13 of 24 for 165 yards and one touchdown. Tike Barber ran for 83 yards and a touchdown on 22 carries and also had a 6-yard touchdown catch.
