The Baltimore Ravens offense didn't look much better than they did in the past two games, but it was enough to defeat a New York Jets team that is in even worse shape. The Jets were forced to start third-stringer Brooks Bollinger after both starter Chad Pennington and backup Jay Fielder were seriously injured in last week's overtime loss to Jacksonville.

The Ravens, who have been led by backup Anthony Wright since starter Kyle Boller was injured in the opener, notched their first victory of the season 13-3 on Sunday led by 81 yards and a touchdown from RB Jamal Lewis. Kicker Matt Stover kicked two first half field goals that proved to be enough, before Lewis added the final touches in the second half.

Bollinger didn't make any terrible mistakes in his first career start, going 14-of-28 for 149 yards, but the Ravens vaunted defense sacked him five times. The ground game did little to help the young signal caller, as Curtis Martin was held to just 30 yards on 13 carries.

The New York Jets had a chance for the end zone early in the third quarter, as Victor Hobson scooped up a Jamal Lewis fumble and took it all the way down to the Baltimore Ravens one-yard line. But, the Jets attempted three runs that netted a minus two yards, and were forced to kick a field goal to cut the lead to 6-3. After that failed opportunity, the Ravens stop unit would allow little else.
