The Seattle Seahawks, powered by a balanced offensive attack, scored a huge road win over the NFC West rival St. Louis Rams. The Seahawks' 37-31 victory moves the team to first place in the division.

With key injuries to starting receivers Darrell Jackson and Bobby Engram, many expected the Seahawks' offensive burden to fall on the shoulders of Shaun Alexander. And although Alexander did rush for 119 yards and 2 touchdowns, he carried the ball only 25 times, which is an average amount of touches for the star running back.

The Seattle Seahawks did not abandon their passing game. Instead, QB Matt Hasselbeck utilized 8 different receivers on the day as he threw for 316 yards and 2 TDs. Hasselbeck's favorite target was WR Joe Jurevicius. The two veterans hooked up 9 times for 137 yards and a touchdown.

The St. Louis Rams offense did what they could to overcome bad field position all game long. Steven Jackson rushed for 77 yards plus a TD, and chipped in 62 receiving yards on 6 catches. Marc Bulger was 26-of-40 for 336 yards and 2 TDs, but was also sacked 4 times and threw an interception.

Despite a 99-yard kickoff return for a touchdown by Chris Johnson, the Rams were plagued by poor special teams play and a defense that couldn't come up with any big stops. Rookie punter Reggie Hodges averaged just 33 yards per attempt, and failed to pin the Seahawks deep in their own territory at any point. The Rams' defense managed to sack Hasselbeck 4 times, but didn't create any turnovers on the day.
