The 2009 NFL hasn't been too kind for Jeff Garcia; Lost the starting quarterback job to JaMarcus Russell in preseason instead of keeping him as a backup, the Radiers release him. Then he was signed by the Philadelphia Eagles when Donovan McNabb broke his rib hoping that Kevin Kolb will fall flat on his face. Instead Kolb had a great two games as starting quarterback for the Eagles which then the Eagles let Garcia go without taking a snap. So now the question is where does Jeff Garcia go next? He could retire, but I think he's still young, and have alot to prove that he can still throw a football with the best. He could go to that new UFL that starts this month with a four team, six games schedule. I think there's a NFL team that can still use a guy like Jeff Garcia that can either improve the team, or take them to the playoffs.
Kansas City Chiefs could use him as a number two man behind Matt Cassell, tutoring Matt on how to read the defense and make great reads on his receivers. If Matt Cassell can't get his act together, then I'm sure that Jeff can fit right into the starting lineup.
Miami Dolphins could also use him as a number two behind Tyler Thigpen, but I think that If they sign Jeff Garcia, he'll be an instant starter since Chad Pennington is on injured reserve, and Thigpen and Pat White can learn from a man with great experience like Jeff Garcia. I don't think that Miami did a bad thing by signing Tyler Thigpen, but I think they should have signed Jeff Garcia as well.
Cleveland Browns would defintely be the team for Jeff Garcia since this is where his career got started at. Apparently Brady Quinn isn't quite ready for prime time, and Derek Anderson isn't quite a dream boat for the browns either. Jeff Garcia could raise the browns from the ashes, and play effective ball to turn the browns around.
I don't think Jeff Garcia's career is over yet, he will play again; it's just a matter of time of when.
