I’m normally not one to make picks before Sunday, but I cannot resist this week with such an abundance of potentially incredible match ups.

I will start off with the “Blockbuster” category:

The Baltimore Ravens are heading into a very winnable game against the New England Patriots. The Ravens are undefeated and it has been their offense that has done it for the most part, scoring 34.3 points per game. The Patriots’ offense has struggled so far this season with Tom Brady still trying to find his rhythm coming off his knee injury. Wes Welker is scheduled to be back for this game against a Ravens defense, which we all know can tear apart an offense coordinators game plan every time they step on the field. Look for this one to come down to either quarterback engineering a 2 minute drill to win the game. I give the edge to the Ravens riding their wave of purple momentum into Foxborough.

In the category of “Most Likely to Disappoint”:

Rex Ryan has revived fans excitement about the New York Jets with his hard nosed, defensive minded approach to ball games. So much that he has the so-called “experts” expecting their match up this week with the New Orleans Saints to be a close one, that the Jets actually have a chance. In reality, Bart Scott and the Jets defense will have no energy to turn any big plays because they will be on the field for 70 percent of the game. A rude wake up call for the Jets, Saints win BIG.

Moving on to the “Hot Mess” category:

In a game where both teams might lose, the winless Tampa Bay Buccaneers head into FedEx field to face the Washington Redskins who are violently spinning out of control. The Bucs have scored only 41 points through 3 games which is one more point than the Redskins have scored. This one will be ugly. If this is the only game on television this Sunday I would probably watch the Champions Tour instead. Yes, I said I would rather watch senior citizens play golf than the Redskins and Buccaneers play football. Final score: who cares?

Lastly, “Must See!”:

If you don’t know where I’m going with this you are not a real football fan. Even if you are not a football fan, WATCH THIS GAME. Normally when the Green Bay Packers head into the Metrodome it is to beat the Minnesota Vikings with Brett Favre at the helm. Number 4 is still playing in this game, only now in purple and gold. It will be like watching Michael putting on a New York Knicks or an Indiana Pacers jersey and walking out onto the court to play against the Bulls. The Packers defense is going to be jacked up and gunning for Favre all night. Favre has the most potent offense he has ever had. This will be an all out battle. The only game that will be better to watch this season than this one? When the Vikings play the Pack at Lambeau. Most important fact about this game: Brett Favre has defeated 31 of the 32 NFL teams. I think you can guess the one he hasn’t. He is a proven winner and wants this one. Favre gets the best of his former team in this one.
