The sudden passing of Gaines Adams

It was a sad day in the NFL when Gaines Adams passed away from an enlarged heart at the age of 26. I never got to know this young man, nor did I ever saw a Bears, or Buccaners game that he was in, but the great memory I had was when blocked that field goal against Wake Forest to run it in for a touchdown, how it made a big difference in that game. The Tigers did go on to a 10 point win over Wake Forest, and that's the best memory I have of Gaines Adams.
Could they have spotted this enlarged heart sooner that could have saved his life? I don't know to be honest, but wasn't there a draftee who last year was diagnoise with an enlarged heart, and was treated for it, but ended his football career? Please someone let me know about that one I would appreciate it. If Gaines Adams was treated in time, would he had to end his career to save his life? We'll never know; Gaines Adams had a great future who could have turned his career around in Chicago, but sadly we'll never know now.
My thoughts and prayers goes out to the Adams's family and I'll be thinking about him when the Tigers play again in 2010.
