This sunday AFC title game between the Colts, and the Jets has chance of having history repeating itself. As you recall in Week 16 when the Colts sat the starters out in the middle of the 3rd quarter when they were up 15-10, was a turning point in the Jets's season. Now there's a chance that the Jets could make the Colts regret getting them into the playoffs should they beat the Colts, and head to the Super Bowl in Miami on Feburary 7th.
It's so eerie how these two teams remind me of Super Bowl 3 where the Jets were underdogs, like they are against the Colts, and the Colts are heavy favorites. For the Jets, they got Mark Sanchez as their quarterback; Joe Namath wasn't a rookie, but he was brash, and promise a Super Bowl victory for the Jets. The Colts meanwhile has Peyton Manning, who is in his prime; whereas the Colts had at first Earl Morrall as their starting quarterback for the injured Johnny Unitas for the first half. Then in the second half, Johnny Unitas came off the bench. Johnny Unitas was somewhat still in his prime, but was also in his twlight of his career.
The location for Super Bowl 44 is eerie to the winner of the Colts/Jets game because they'll be going back to Miami, even though it's not the Orange Bowl, but the city stays the same. For this sunday's game between Indianapolis v New York will be they're Super Bowl revisited in Indianapolis.
Should the Jets overcome the Fearsome Colts, they'll have a chance to win another Super Bowl in the same city they won their first. Should the heavy favorite Colts win, then they'll be heading to Miami to try to their first Super Bowl in Miami.
History can repeat itself, but it can also change pending the outcome of this game, and I myself as this writer is looking forward to it.
