It's possible that rumors of Priest Holmes' demise were premature. When the chips were down, Holmes was the difference maker as the Kansas City Chiefs defeated the Washington Redskins at Arrowhead Stadium in Kansas City, 28-21.

At 32 years of age, Holmes managed to do nothing more than run for a touchdown and catch 5 balls for 100 yards and another touchdown, including the go ahead score on a 60-yard catch and run. Also having a big day for the Kansas City Chiefs was defensive end Jared Allen. Allen sacked Washington quarterback Mark Brunell three times, forcing two fumbles, which he recovered himself.

The star of the day for the Washington Redskins was Santana Moss. The big play receiver caught 10 passes for 173 yards and two touchdowns. Despite the two fumbles, Brunell had another solid effort for the Redskins with 331 yards passing on 25-of-41 passing and three touchdowns. Washington running back, Clinton Portis, managed 77 yards on 21 carries on the afternoon.

With a first half that offered little excitement or scoring, the teams went to the locker rooms with Washington up 7-6. The second half, though, more than made up for it with one big offensive play after another. Santana Moss caught a 78 yard touchdown pass 4:12 into the third quarter to tie the game at 14 a piece. Sammy Knight responded with an 80 yard fumble recovery return for a touchdown to put Kansas City up 21-14. That was not all for big plays in the second half, though. In the fourth quarter, it was the 60 yard touchdown pass to Holmes that sealed the game for the Chiefs as they went on top for good 21-28.

The Washington Redskins go to 3-2 on the year and will host San Francisco next week. The Kansas City Chiefs improve to 3-2 and will travel to south Florida to face the Dolphins next week.
