It's a sad day in the NFL when someone is let go by the team, even though they didn't pan out the way the Raiders have planned it. JaMarcus Russell was let go yesterday after playing 3 seasons with the Oakland Raiders. The writing was on the wall when Oakland made a trade to the Redskins for Jason Campbell on the third day of the draft. Instead of letting him go the next day, the Raiders organization decided to give him one last chance to prove himself at mini camp; the result was terrible after JaMarcus showed up at 300lbs, finished at the bottom of the depth chart, and couldn't throw a pass if his life depended on it.
One day after JaMarcus was let go, questions now circulate of where do JaMarcus go from here? Well here's where he goes next; First off he needs to slim his fat ass down to around 200lbs, at least somewhere between 215 to 225lbs. You got Jenny Craig, Weight Watchers, Nutri System, and If JaMarcus that desperate, go on the biggest loser and get trained by Bob Harper, or Jillian Michaels. Next he needs to go to a team that he can be a second or third string quarterback to learn the NFL quarterback system for at least a couple of years. Places like Indianapolis, NY Giants, San Diego, and Cincinnati would be a good start where he can learn to horn his craft, and be ready when the time comes.
I haven't seen a fatter quarterback since that Lorenzo kid from Kentucky who later became a backup for Eli Manning at NY Giants, does anyone know where he is now? So slimming the pounds is the first priority. Next by going to a team where he can get his knowledge to absorb for a couple of years, he can be ready, and be the comeback player of the year in the NFL instead of a draft bust.
I hope whatever team signs with JaMarcus Russell doesn't throw him into the fire right off the bat, he needs time to heal and learn from the best before going out to the field, and trying again. I'm pulling for JaMarcus Russell, it's just a matter of time of him either be a comeback, or a bust.
