The San Francisco 49ers have traded quarterback Tim Rattay to the Tampa Bay Buccaneers for an undisclosed draft pick. Tampa Bay was forced to make the drastic move after learning that their starting quarter, Brian Griese, will likely miss the rest of the season after injuring his knee during Sunday's win over Miami. The trade was finalized just in time to beat the NFL trade deadline of 4pm Tuesday.

Tim Rattay is a six year NFL veteran who spent his entire career with the San Francisco 49ers. He played his college ball at Louisiana Tech. Rattay started the season as the 49ers starting quarterback, but has since been replaced by the #1 overall pick in this year's NFL draft, Alex Smith.

Rattay will likely start for the Tampa Bay Buccaneers when they return from the bye week on October 30th against, you guessed it, the San Francisco 49ers.
