The New York Giants return home to the Meadowlands in New Jersey this Sunday afternoon (4 PM EST) to take on the AFC West's best, 5-1, Denver Broncos. The Broncos are as hot as any team in football right now, riding a five game win streak that saw San Diego, Kansas City, Jacksonville, Washington and New England lose. All five teams are expected to fight for a playoff spot deep into the season. The Giants are coming off of their worst offensive game of the season in an overtime loss to the Dallas Cowboys. Big Blue will be home where they have outscored opponents 86-43 this season.

The New York Giants defense, or lack of one, has been a consistent problem in 2005. Will Peterson is still out of action with a back injury and is expected to be out for at least another month. Linebackers Carlos Emmons, Reggie Torbor and Barrett Green are all listed as questionable with ankle injuries. Safety Gibril Wilson is listed as questionable with an ankle problem of his own. The defense will be tested against a very good offense led by a rejuvenated Jake Plummer. Against the New England Patriots, Plummer threw for over 250 yards with a pair of touchdowns. The Giants secondary has not played well at all, expect them to be torched like Drew Bledsoe was able to last week.

The Denver Broncos rushing attack is headlined by Tatum Bell who in 2005, has been more effective than the Giants' Tiki Barber. Mike Anderson also will see time running for the Broncos. Together, the pair has combined for 753 yards and 5 touchdowns. Rod Smith has been one of the best receivers of this generation, and an unheralded one. If Smith is covered by Will Allen expect him to be featured most in the passing game.

Giants quarterback Eli Manning will have to deal with a secondary full of talented and respected veterans. Safety John Lynch and corner Champ Bailey will be roaming the field looking for interceptions. Unlike last week, the Giants can't let scoring opportunities fall away at the hands of interceptions and poor execution.

This is a game that will be a much-welcomed test for the Giants against one of the AFC's best. For the Broncos, the play of Jake Plummer will decide whether they can come out of Giants Stadium with their sixth consecutive victory.
