San Francisco 49ers quarterback Cody Pickett recorded a passer rating of less than 2.0 in the team's defeat to the Chicago Bears. Playing in the windy city, the 49ers – who are accustomed to the winds of Candlestick were exposed to nearly gale force winds, and the only player who was remotely able to contend with them was kicker Joe Nedney who was three for four on field goals.

Even Nedney was not perfect though, and his missed field goal was returned by the Bears for what would end up being the game winning touchdown. It was an extremely long day for the San Francisco 49ers who have been suffering through yet another awful season. The team lost strong safety Tony Parrish to a broken ankle. Parrish, one of the players left on the roster that is legitimately talented joins a long list of injured 49ers players. Even the acrobatic, sure handed receiver Brandon Lloyd had a rough day dropping one pass, and alligator arming another.

In fact the 49ers best offense play was to punt the ball – a play that was converted into three fumble recovers, one on the Bears two yard line. In the end though, not even that allowed the 49ers to score, as the Bears defense stepped it up big time in the redzone, and the 49ers began their penalty filled ways.

The Bears run game is ultimately what separated them from the 49ers this week. The Bears ran for over 170 yards compared to the 49ers 130, but did so on a more consistent basis. The Bears coaching staff was also able to exploit the play action pass better, and made an ingenious call to try and return a long 49ers field goal as time was expiring in the first half.

The San Francisco 49ers get set for a long rest of the season facing the Seahawks and Titans in the next two weeks. The ‘race to the bottom' has truly just begun.
