If you turned off the Monday Night Football game midway through the fourth quarter and went to bed, you may be stunned to learn that the Philadelphia Eagles lost to the Dallas Cowboys 21-20.

Philadelphia, led by the running of Brian Westbrook and Lamar Gordon, pretty much controlled the game for the first three quarters plus. The duo combined for 143 yards on 29 carries, by far the best output the Philadelphia Eagles have enjoyed on the ground all season.

Westbrook's 15-yard run on the very first possession of the game helped set the tempo, though Cowboys rookie Marion Barber answered with a one-yard plunge of his own to tie the game at 7-7 late in the opening quarter.

Philadelphia's defense dominated Drew Bledsoe and the Dallas offense for the next two quarters. The Cowboys quarterback finished 17-of-24 for 196 yards, a good amount of which came in the final four minutes of the game.

Hobbled Eagles signal-caller Donovan McNabb was efficient, going 19-of-34 for 169 yards, but one bad mistake late was his and his team's undoing. Leading 20-14 with less than three minutes to go, he was picked off by safety Roy Williams, who took the interception back 45 yards for the game-winning score.

The Philadelphia Eagles had one last gasp, as kicker David Akers, who had connected on both his earlier field goal attempts, left a 60-yarder just short as time elapsed.

The Cowboys moved into a first-place tie with the New York Giants at 6-3 with the dramatic victory, sweeping the Eagles in the season series in the process. Philadelphia's fall from grace got even worse, as they are now 4-5.
