It took nine games for this to come, but the Detroit Lions offense finally produced in the way offensive coordinator Ted Tollner envisioned it would.

Ted Tollner came to Detroit from San Francisco in the offseason in hopes of adding a spark to the offensive playbook. With Tollner on board, there would be more downfield throws, more creativity, and above all, more production from a very talented offensive group that includes talents such as Roy Williams, Kevin Jones, and Marcus Pollard.

However, halfway through the 2005 season, the results of his scheme have been minimal. With six first round picks on offense, the offense has severely underachieved. Even during the Detroit Lions' previous three wins this season, the offensive production was lousy.

Last Sunday, the offense finally lived up to its potential. Even if it was against a porous Cardinal defense, it's still a start. Both Joey Harrington and Roy Williams had career days and the rushing game racked up over 150 yards. Harrington was efficient enough to make the opposing defense actually respect the pass.

Ted Tollner needs to keep rolling with this momentum. If Detroit intends to make the playoffs, they must prove that they can attack good defenses like the Dallas Cowboys' this upcoming Sunday.

The Detroit Lions' offensive success no longer rides on the shoulders of Harrington, but on Ted Tollner's.
