On Tuesday, injured Minnesota Vikings quarterback Daunte Culpepper underwent surgery to repair his torn ACL, MCL, and PCL. The surgery was performed by orthopedic surgeon Dr. James Andrews in Birmingham, Alabama.

The team has reported that the surgery went as planned and was successful. Culpepper will begin rehabbing immediately and is expected back for training camp next season. The recovery time has been set at approximately nine months. Culpepper won't be back to the way he was before the injury until approximately a year and a half.

Some people doubt whether Daunte Culpepper will ever be the same after the injury. Tearing the ACL, MCL, and PCL in a knee is a devastating injury, and could hinder the mobility and running threat that Culpepper possessed before the injury. Personally, I think that Culpepper will be affected by that painful memory until he takes a hit on the knee and is able to get up. With the injury sticking out in the back of his mind until he takes that hit, his play on the field may suffer.

Culpepper is extremely motivated to get back and there is no doubt in his mind or Vikings owner Zygi Wilf that Culpepper can make it back and still be the All-Pro quarterback he was before the injury. Wilf has expressed no desire to restructure Culpepper's contract, and has mentioned how he expects Culpepper will be able to come back and lead the Minnesota Vikings to victory next season.
