With Alex Smith unable to practice all week, he will only be available for backup duties this Sunday. Cody Pickett's ineffectiveness has driven him to third on the depth chart, while quarterback Ken Dorsey will make his second start of the season for the San Francisco 49ers.

The former Miami Hurricane standout made seven starts last season for the 49ers. He completed 54.4% of his passes (123/226) for 1231 yards, 6 touchdowns, and 9 interceptions. In his previous start this season, Dorsey was 7/18 passing for 40 yards before leaving with an injured ankle.

Ken Dorsey is going into this week's game trying to be relaxed as possible. Dorsey was quoted as saying that he just wants to have fun and score some points.

The San Francisco 49ers inept offense hasn't scored a touchdown in more than three games, and only has scored 8 touchdowns all season. After trading away quarterback Tim Rattay, the four quarterbacks left on the roster have yet to throw a touchdown pass all season.

It would sure be good for the 49ers if they could put up some points. Just scoring an offensive touchdown this week would be a success. The 49ers have almost no chance to beat the surging Seattle Seahawks (7-2) this Sunday.

The quarterback carousel continues to circle around. Head coach Mike Nolan is still hoping for any one of the quarterbacks on his roster to show some kind of positive consistency. Anything to get the struggling offense moving would be a positive, and let's face it, the San Francisco 49ers haven't had much to be happy about on offense all season. Maybe Dorsey for a week can recapture the magic he had in college as a Hurricane. It's unlikely, but you never know.
