A wrist and thumb injury, kept Minnesota Vikings running back Mewelde Moore from participating in any offensive plays this past week. However, Moore did make his presence felt in Sunday's game against the New York Giants. Moore was returning punts, and in the third quarter he busted off a 71 yard punt return for a touchdown. Moore didn't play at running back because both he and head coach Mike Tice were concerned of possible fumbles with him only being able to carry the ball in one hand.

Michael Bennett filled in for Moore after Bennett had rushed for 106 yards the previous week against Detroit. In Sunday's game against the Giants, Bennett was stymied all day long, rushing 19 times for only 16 yards.

In Mike Tice's post game press conference he announced that Mewelde Moore would regain his starting running back job this Monday when the Minnesota Vikings do battle against the rival Green Bay Packers. Tice said that it wasn't because of Michael Bennett's performance on Sunday.

Tice is wrong though; it is because of Michael Bennett's performance on Sunday. Had Michael Bennett posted a big game, there is no way Tice would have benched him. Luckily for the Vikings they still won, and Bennett did poor enough to allow Moore to rightfully regain his starting role.

Bennett will be relegated back to the back up duty, and barring injury will see action in two or three offensive series. Rookie running back Ciatrick Fason, due to Moe Williams' injury, will be the short yardage and goal line back.
