The Kansas City Chiefs' playoff hopes are fading. They are currently tied for 2nd place in the AFC West. However, they sit in 8th place overall in the AFC. Trying keep pace with the division-leading Denver Broncos, the Chiefs travel to Houston to match up with the Texans in a Sunday night contest.

The Houston Texans, which have only one win this season, sport the second-worst offense in the NFL. Former first-overall draft choice David Carr leads a passing game that only averages 106.7 yards per game. The Kansas City passing defense is ranked 14th in the NFL, thanks in part to DE Jared Allen, who is having a career year with 7 sacks and six forced fumbles. On the ground, the Texans are nursing injuries, particularly starter Domanick Davis. The Chiefs' run defense is solid and ranks 8th in the NFL.
Houston also sports one of the league's worst defenses.

They will face Kansas City Chiefs RB Larry Johnson, who is having a great season and continues to carry the load without Priest Holmes. If the Texans can't stop Johnson, they will find it difficult to win. Since 2003, Kansas City is 11-4 when they produce a 100-yard rusher. When Larry Johnson reaches the 100-yard plateau, the Chiefs are 5-1.
