Teams get extra picks from the NFL

32 compensatory choices in the 2005 draft have been awarded to 14 NFL teams. Teams which lose more or better compensatory free agents than they acquire in a year are eligible to receive the compensatory draft picks, according to the terms of the league's Collective Bargaining Agreement.

The number of picks a team receives equals the net loss of compensatory free agents up to a maximum of 4. The 32 compensatory choices were announced at the Annual NFL Meetings. This year's draft will take place on April 23rd through the 24th.

Teams will get the extra selections at the end of the third through seventh rounds, according to the following tables:

Third round compensatory picks
Tennessee - overall pick #96
Denver - 97
Seattle - 98
Kansas City - 99
New England - 100
Denver - 101

Fourth round compensatory picks
St. Louis - 134
Indianapolis - 135
Tennessee - 136

Fifth round compensatory picks
Carolina - 169
New England - 170
Carolina - 171
Philadelphia - 172
Indianapolis - 173
San Francisco - 174

Sixth round compensatory picks
Carolina - 207
Dallas - 208
Dallas - 209
St. Louis - 210
Philadelphia - 211
Oakland - 212
Baltimore - 213
Oakland - 214

Seventh round compensatory picks
Philadelphia - 247
San Francisco - 248
San Francisco - 249
