The National Football League and CHUM Television announced a 1 year contract agreement to broadcast Monday Night Football. The deal ensures fans throughout Canada can enjoy free, live coverage of MNF throughout the 2005 season.

CHUM's 12 Citytv stations will kick off coverage on Thursday, September 8th at 9:00pm ET. Citytv is to broadcast all 16 Monday night games beginning Monday, September 12th at 9:00pm ET.

The opening game of the NFL's 86th season showcases the Super Bowl-champion New England Patriots at home against the Oakland Raiders. The game features the Raiders' debut of wide receiver Randy Moss and will be Oakland's first visit to New England since the teams' memorable 2001 AFC Divisional Playoff contest, otherwise known as the blizzard game.
