The NFL has formally signed a multi-year contract with Burger King to be the league's official fast-food sponsor. The restaurant chain is trying to expand its popularity among the coveted marketing segment of 18 to 34 year-old males.

Burger King will have national restaurant promotions, NFL-themed advertising and youth-targeted premiums, including a handheld football video game. The fast-food chain will also have promotional rights for the collective use of all 32 teams.

This is Burger King's first promotional deal with the NFL. The league previously had a deal with McDonald's that expired in 1998.
