NFL owners approved the $600 million sale of the Minnesota Vikings from BJ "Red" McCombs to Zygmunt Wilf, a New Jersey real estate developer. McCombs has owned the team since 1998.

Wilf stated that he will keep the team in Minnesota. He aims to build a new outdoor stadium to replace the Metrodome, hoping to give the Vikings a strong home field advantage during the winter months.

The deal has been in the works for nearly a year; a purchase agreement was announced 3 months ago with Arizona businessman Reggie Fowler as the lead investor of a group that included Wilf. Fowler could have become the NFL's first black owner but did not have enough liquid assets to purchase 30 percent of the franchise. Fowler is part of the current ownership group, along with several members of Wilf's family.
