The Carolina Panthers defeated the Washington Redskins tonight with a massive passing attack. Jake Delhomme got things going early, by throwing a 21-yard touchdown on Carolina's first offensive drive. Rod Gardner, who Carolina acquired from Washington, was on the receiving end. Carolina's other starting receiver, Keary Colbert, did not play tonight due to a hamstring injury.

Delhomme's back-up Chris Weinke followed suit in the second quarter by driving the team 64-yards for a score. QB Rookie Stefan LeFors also contributed by adding two touchdowns late in the game. DeShaun Foster ran for 13-yards on three carries and Rod Smart gained 38-yards on five tries. Carolina's receiving core did well with Gardner, Boone, Carter and Gaines scoring touchdowns. The defense was led by Dante Wesley who had eight tackles and an interception.

The Redskins are trying to find an offensive identity under coach Joe Gibbs and it showed tonight as they struggled to move the ball. Their only touchdown came in the third quarter on a drive led by Mark Brunell. Jason Campbell, the Redskins' first-round draft choice, played the fourth quarter and went 10 of 18 for 132 yards. Clinton Portis had one carry for four yards and Santana Moss had one reception for three yards.
